The annual public hearing on the 2027 Broome County Tentative Budget is part of the Legislature’s regular session.
- Where: Legislative Chamber, 6th floor of the Edwin L. Crawford County Office Building, Government Plaza, Binghamton

This is the meeting where residents get to speak on the record. Taxes, services, housing, roads — whatever matters to you, this is your chance to say it.
What’s in this budget
The 2027 budget season also brought in the 2027–2032 Capital Improvements Program, a bond resolution for $61,147,518. Other items on the Legislature’s agenda this month include property tax relief for 100% service-disabled veterans and for lower-income seniors, a $880,000 Code Blue renewal, $222,870 in eviction prevention through SEAF — and Office for Aging grants that are coming up for renewal smaller than last year.
Legislator Tim Ames’s full breakdown is in our October legislative update, and the running summary lives on our BC Legislature watch page.
A note on decorum
From Legislator Ames: “Please follow decorum so I do not have to see any of my neighbors being hauled off or being charged.” Speak your piece, and keep it civil enough that the message is what gets heard.
