Indivisible Binghamton

About us

Who we are.

Indivisible Binghamton is a group of people in the Greater Binghamton area, dedicated to peacefully ensuring that the values and rights enshrined in our nation's Constitution are respected and upheld by our elected officials.

Where we stand

Indivisible Binghamton is a chapter of the national Indivisible movement. We support progressive candidates and the elected officials who fight for progressive policies — and we hold every official accountable to their constituents and the Constitution.

Our mission

Members generally agree with the progressive agenda — especially with regard to racial, ethnic, and religious diversity, women's rights, LGBTQ rights, environmentalism, and non-violent resistance. We support our national, state, and local representatives when they stand with us in fighting for progressive policies and actions, and we hold them accountable when they don't.

How we work

We influence our Members of Congress in four main ways:

  • Meeting with our MoCs and their staffs.
  • Attending MoC-sponsored events, especially town halls.
  • Weekly mass calling — regular calls to our MoCs and local officials.
  • Postcard writing, letter writing, and rallies to engage the public.

Our actions are informed by Indivisible: A Practical Guide for Fixing our Democracy , the national movement's playbook for effective civic pressure.

Indivisible's story

How we got here.

From a single PDF in late 2016 to chapters in every congressional district today — Indivisible has always been a grassroots movement, built by ordinary people who refuse to look away.

  1. December 2016

    The guide goes viral.

Two former Congressional staffers post a PDF, Indivisible: A Practical Guide for Resisting the Trump Agenda. It spreads across the country in days.

  2. February 2017

    Indivisible is founded.

The national organization launches. Activists across the U.S. start forming local chapters — including ours, right here in Greater Binghamton.

  3. Today

    Millions strong.

Indivisible groups exist in every congressional district in the country. We organize locally, support each other nationally, and keep showing up.

How can I join?
  • Sign up for our mailing list — you'll get notified about upcoming meetings, actions, and the date and time of our next gathering.
  • Join our Facebook group.
  • Show up to a meeting — not mandatory, but a great way to see how we operate.
Who can join?
We're an inclusive group that welcomes people of all backgrounds and beliefs. Our only requirement for membership is active civic engagement. We ask members to respect each other's privacy, be patient and welcoming, and pitch in where they can.
How much time does this require?
Whatever you can give. Calling a representative takes about 15 minutes. We provide sample scripts for calls and postcards. There are deeper ways to get involved too — action teams, voter registration drives, GOTV, campaign rallies — and every level of involvement matters.
Do I have to come to every meeting?
No. Reaching out to representatives is the most important part of our work, and you can do that without attending a meeting. We do encourage new members to attend a few meetings to meet our community and learn the process.
Are there committees I can join?
Yes — see our Action Teams page for the working groups we have right now.

About this site

Built by a neighbor.

indivisiblebinghamton.com was designed and built by Kyle Quilty, a member of our Greater Binghamton community, on his own time — because he believes in the cause and wanted to give us better tools to show up and stay connected. Keeping it running and adding new features is an ongoing volunteer effort.
